Terms of Use
Effective date: September 19, 2026
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Stoa Therapy Inc website at stoa-therapy.com and related online materials, forms, and communications (the “Site”), as well as your use of telehealth speech-language pathology services offered by Stoa Therapy Inc (“Stoa Therapy,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
By using the Site or engaging our services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Site or services.
Who we are
Stoa Therapy Inc provides online speech therapy (speech-language pathology) services through licensed clinicians. Care is available in states where we are authorized to practice and where a matching clinician is available. As of the effective date of these Terms, we publicly list service availability that may include Virginia, Colorado, Illinois, and Louisiana. Availability can change; state licensure and clinician capacity control whether we can accept a particular client.
Acceptance of terms
You represent that you are at least 18 years old, or that you are a parent or legal guardian acting on behalf of a minor client, and that you have authority to agree to these Terms. If you use the Site on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization.
Description of services
Stoa Therapy offers telehealth speech-language pathology services, including consultations, evaluations, and therapy sessions delivered online. Services are provided by speech-language pathologists licensed in the applicable state(s).
Not emergency care. Stoa Therapy is not an emergency service, crisis hotline, or substitute for urgent medical care. If you or someone else is experiencing a medical or mental health emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. Do not use the Site or our messaging channels for emergencies.
Eligibility and state licensure
Telehealth rules require that clinicians be appropriately licensed for the client’s location. You agree to provide accurate information about the client’s state of residence (and physical location during sessions, if requested). We may decline or discontinue services if we cannot lawfully provide care in that location or if we do not have an available licensed clinician.
Website information is not medical advice
Content on the Site (including blog posts, FAQs, and general educational material) is for information only. It is not a diagnosis, treatment plan, or personalized clinical advice. Only a qualified clinician who has evaluated the client can provide individualized recommendations. Relying solely on website content for care decisions is not a substitute for professional evaluation.
Accounts, bookings, and communications
You may submit inquiries, book consultations, or create accounts through forms or third-party tools we use. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep contact details current. You are responsible for safeguarding any login credentials issued to you and for activity under your account.
We may send service-related communications by email, phone, or text (when you opt in). See our Privacy Policy and SMS policy for how we handle personal information and text messaging.
Insurance and payment
We may help verify insurance benefits when you request it. Insurance verification is not a guarantee of coverage, authorization, or payment. Final coverage determinations rest with the insurer or plan. You remain responsible for amounts not covered by insurance, including deductibles, coinsurance, copays, and non-covered services, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Payment terms for private-pay or patient-responsibility amounts will be communicated during onboarding or billing. Failure to pay amounts owed may result in suspension of non-emergency scheduling until the account is addressed, subject to applicable law and clinical continuity considerations.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Site or services for unlawful, harmful, or abusive purposes
- Attempt to disrupt, scrape, or reverse engineer the Site beyond what the law allows
- Submit false, misleading, or unauthorized information
- Harass staff, clinicians, or other users
- Upload malware or interfere with security features
- Use automated systems to overload the Site without our permission
We may suspend or terminate access if we reasonably believe these Terms have been violated.
Intellectual property
The Site and its original content, branding, logos, and materials are owned by Stoa Therapy Inc or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. You may view and use the Site for personal, non-commercial purposes related to learning about or receiving our services. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from Site content without our prior written permission, except as allowed by law (for example, limited fair use).
Therapy materials provided during clinical care may be for personal use by the client or caregiver as directed by the clinician and are not licensed for commercial redistribution.
Third-party tools and links
The Site may use third-party services (for example form providers, scheduling, telehealth platforms, or analytics) and may link to external websites. We are not responsible for third-party content, policies, or practices. Your use of third-party tools may be subject to their terms.
Disclaimers
THE SITE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, STOA THERAPY DISCLAIMS WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT REGARDING THE SITE. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SITE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS.
Clinical services are provided according to professional standards and separate clinical agreements, consents, and notices that may apply when you become a client. Nothing in these Terms guarantees a specific clinical outcome.
Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, STOA THERAPY INC AND ITS OWNERS, CLINICIANS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SITE OR FROM THESE TERMS, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SITE OR THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID TO STOA THERAPY FOR SERVICES IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (USD $100). SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN LIMITATIONS; IN THOSE CASES, OUR LIABILITY IS LIMITED TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
These limitations do not limit liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including certain consumer rights or liability for gross negligence or willful misconduct where such limits are prohibited.
Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Stoa Therapy Inc and its personnel from claims arising out of your misuse of the Site, your violation of these Terms, or your submission of unauthorized or inaccurate information, except to the extent caused by our willful misconduct.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state where Stoa Therapy Inc is principally based, without regard to conflict-of-law rules that would require applying another jurisdiction’s laws. Courts in that state (or federal courts sitting there) will have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from these Terms or the Site, except where applicable law requires otherwise for consumers.
We do not invent or publish corporate registration details in these Terms. If you need formal entity information for a specific purpose, contact us.
Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. The effective date will change when updates are posted. Continued use of the Site after changes means you accept the updated Terms, except where additional consent is required.
